One of the main projects we are involved is ECOPOTENCIAL. The ECOPOTENTIAL project focuses its activities and pilot actions on a targeted set of internationally recognised protected areas (PA) in Europe. We are working on the estimation of current and future ecosystem services and benefits. To achieve this goal, we are developing a land use change model based on a bayesian belief network (BBN). An important role is played by the stakeholders in this model.
Last month we made a workshop in Canjáyar (Almería) to define the variables, their states and relationship into the BBN.
The workshop was attended by a variety of stakeholders related to the land use decission in this part of Sierra Nevada: farmers, shepherds, rural development workers, mayors of villages, and agricultural technical team.
The workshop was carried out in collaboration with «Rural Development Department» (ADR Alpujarra Sierra Nevada de Almería) and the «Agricultural Regional Office» (OCA Oficina Comarcal Agraria de Canjáyar)
